The boys are still working hard, in the fields!
Hoping to finish. by Christmas Eve!

It's been a tuff last bit of harvest for sure between the rain and breaks!

But so proud of all their hard work and long hours!

Fingers crossed, no rain, or breaks get in the way!

Even in and after all the hard times and stress in the farming operation, the best part is the view never stops!

Like the quote says:

If you do what you love you'll never work a day in your life!

Harvest Update

12/6/2019

Harvest update:

Combines were able to get in the field the past 2 days thankfully, the weather hasn't made this last bit of harvest easy! But that's farming you see...

Farmers depend on the weather, to make sure their crops get enough water to grow or enough sunshine to grow or dry out when it's harvest time.
Temperature plays a huge roll too!

When weather is not in your favor in farming..it leads to money loss.

(Stay tuned for more on why weather changes and weather in general is important around the farm)

Today's focus on weather is during harvest!

When it rains during harvest:
farmers get behind which can lead to...
  • not being able to harvest what is mature
which leads to...
  • yield and quality loss, each day the crop sits in the field after its reached its maturity, it looses test weight which means loss of money.
  • if a heavy rain or wind comes it could damage crops: knock them down! Which leads to complication harvesting.
  • not being able to get in fields to plant cover crop or double crop
...

Many farms like Lively H, were out late last night trying to beat the rain coming in and trying to get soybeans out of the field.

So thankful for ALL the farmers and farms who run those late hours, and pray that they are able to get all of their crop out soon and finish up harvest 2019.
