Wheat Harvest 2022….
is in the books…. Thankful for a good crop, but most of all thankful for time in the field together…The days do get very long this time of year and in the fall, and I am not going to lie sometimes it’s draining but very thankful for all the memories, thankful for learning and the experience! Thankful for the beauty that grows from the ground up! Not only, the crops growing but me as a person! This life has taught me, not everything comes easy you have to work for it, not everything is perfect, it has taught me strength, not always sweating the small things, it has improved my character.. But most of all it has showed me HAPPINESS!The farm is a place, I feel safe, I feel strong, I feel it is a place to cope..an escape…a place to clear my mind.. It’s okay to be OUTstanding in your field, literally and figuratively. The saying goes…”If you find something you love to do, you’ll never work a day in your life”, we may work, and work alot, long hours, sweat, blood, and tears but we enjoy what we do.. yes things break, yes things don’t go as planned and yes we may cuss on the shitty days,(could be on a legit shitty day-cow shit) but at the end of the day we still love this life.. Life is truly better on the farm and even better doing it beside the people I love! Family is everything to me! Even though we didn’t get much rain yesterday every drop counts…
We got back in the wheat field today and hopefully will finish up tomorrow! Goodnight followers • • • • • #agrowersgranddaughter #livelyhfarms #wheatharvest #kentuckyag #kentuckyfarm ![]() Nothing says a better good morning, than birds chirping, and thunder rolling and cracking in the background! Praying for any rain we can get today… Yes we still have wheat to get out of the field today but we would and will be more grateful for the rain, to give the other crops a drink, and we will take a day off.. Pray for every farmer, believe it or not, this growing season has been extremely dry! Our crops need water to grow, gardens..our pastures need water to grow! Just like us, we are 60% water, plants are around 95%. Right now majority of our crops are starting a reproductive stage, to make the flower to make a pod, or making the tassel and silk.. Water is critical… Without rain..crops will be poor.. revenue will be lost… Not to mention without rain..no food… Remember FARMERS FEED THE WORLD…and I can ensure you that Kentucky farmers aren’t the only one facing a drought or struggling.. and also remember a lot of products you use every day, have a bi-product from what we grow… like corn used for ethanol… Did you know the oil from soybeans is used in cleaners, paint or even engine oil? Did you know crayons are a bi-product from corn? See as a consumer, you read into all the “myths”, or want to jump on bandwagon of the hate.. Why don’t you read into products to show actually, how thankful you should be for farmers and how much actually comes from part of the farm? It’s sad people are complaining about prices all the time, fuel, food, cost of living… Yes I know it sucks.. But farmers are dealing with it too, chemicals, fertilizers, fuel, and on top still trying their best to bring food to your table.. Pray for farmers all around the world! • • • • • #agrowersgranddaughter #livelyhfarms #prayforfarmers #farmersfeedtheworld #farm #blog #agriculture #farm365 #prayforrain #kentuckyagriculture #ag365 ![]() Wheat harvest glow brought to you from the combine, products used: 7pm sunset, grease, and new face moisturizer hydraulic oil! Highly recommend 5 stars! ••••••••••• It’s been a very very long day much less a week! Smiling though because I’m in the field in my happy place even after a long day of beeping…lets just say things haven’t gone as planned today..But this afternoon was better! (stay tuned for youtube video to see how things went today at Lively H, uncle johan and aaron had the best day and the most productive) Happy Saturday followers! • • • • • #agrowersgranddaughter #livelyhfarms #wheatharvest #farm #blog #womeninag #wheat #harvesttime #agriculture #farm365 “I have big dreams for this place”
A place I now call home, a place of new beginnings, a place I’ve dreamed of having..A place to grow crops, a place to grow a garden, a place to grow myself, a place to let the sheep roam… my first farm, a place where hard work and dedication pays off! This interview was special, but how I got it meant more! As you all know, a little over a month ago my Ag teacher/FFA advisor and Wes York passed away! This was also the same week I got asked to interview, in fact a couple days later.. A classmate/friend Camryn from high school messaged me asking if I would be interested in an interview. Camryn also works for KFB. I said yes but I asked how I got this interview. She said her boss Mr. Thornberry heard of Mr. York passing and was looking for photos, when he came across a photo at volleyball courts(see below). He asked who I was and then he looked me up and found my blog.. This is very special to me because York has impacted my life in many ways and helped me to the person I am today, even while aggravating me.. Even after he had passed he still was, and still is moving through his students! My other Ag teacher Magen Woods, read a book to us “Oh, the places you’ll go” by Dr.Seuss. I never knew how much that book would actually mean to me.. Through the ups and downs you still find yourself still going places.. My Ag teachers/FFA advisors are so special to me, I would do anything for them! They pushed me to do things I would’ve never done.. even after high school! •••••• I strive to be a leader and role model just like they were to me.. just like my parents and grandparents! Find your support system, your family and friends.. This is me saying to my followers believe in yourself, chase your dreams..It’s okay to be nervous…Let the nerves and fears push you towards your goal! It’s okay to not get everything on first try. What’s important is that you are TRYING. KFB members should’ve received Junes issue this week! I received mine yesterday! Page 16! I’ve had lots of new followers and subscribers in last couple of days. Thank you! I am very excited to continuing sharing my journey in agriculture, chasing dreams, while working along side my papa on his farm and following in his footsteps! Growing with you, for you, learning with you and for you, while advocating for agriculture! I hope you all enjoy this page! Lively H is rolling reels in the wheat fields today! Happy Harvest! • • • • • #agrowersgranddaughter #livelyhfarms #wheat #wheatharvest #agriculture #farm365 #ag365 Today will be spent cleaning waterers for sheep, putting out more mineral and time in the garden! Basically catching up on all things (including cleaning house laundry and groceries later ugh) before a BUSY week in the field…Wahoooo! Looking like wheat harvest will begin full swing tomorrow, papa said wheat is dry so I better get everything I need done today!
So thankful it’s such a lovely day to be outside, with a nice breeze! This week is going to be a scorcher! Make sure you stay hydrated!! Happy Sunday followers! The golden sunshine on a stormy day… you can find in the wheat field! We were planning to get in the field today, to start wheat harvest in full swing, here at Lively H! But it’s been pushed back a few days but that’s okay gives us time to tinker with some problems we ran into when starting to cut yesterday afternoon! Thankful also because our soil needed to be replenished with water to keep the other crops growing! Happy Friday! How much rain did everyone get? • • • • • • #agrowesrsgranddaughter #livelyhfarms #wheat #wheatharvest #rainisagoodthing #farming #agriculture ![]() So a couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to share my story with Tim Thornberry with KFB! I got to show him around my farm and papas “Lively H”! It was a great afternoon and I am so thankful for the opportunity! My intentions of starting my blog in 2018 “A Growers Granddaughter” was to agvocate, share papas farm story and everyday life at Lively H, and eventually my own farm(not purchased at time but actively looking), while following alongside papa in his operation. Learning everyday! Not to mention, not only growing crops but growing as a person, being able to connect with people, those who farm and those who don’t! I also hope one day I am a role model to others, especially the future generations and upcoming women in agriculture! Dreaming big! I have many dreams in agriculture that I am chasing currently and as the article titles “I have big dreams for this place” If your reading this… I want to tell you if you have a dream chase it, obstacles come and go, but keep chasing! Find your support system and motivators, and dream big! You can do anything you set your mind too! Also let me add, don’t worry about what other people think, if they aren’t supporting you they aren’t friends. Drown negativity with positivity! I want to thank everyone who is following along journey, and all the support! I want to thank my family and friends, and Aaron for supporting me as well but most of all helping me get to where I am today by believing in me! If you are a KFB member, when you get magazine in mail you will see! But if your not a Kentucky Farm Bureau member here is the link to the June issue available online https://editions.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/... I will be seeing Tim again soon around Lively H, when wheat harvest begins he said he will take the buddy seat with me! • • • • • #agrowersgranddaughter #livelyhfarms #womeninag #womeninagriculture #farm365 #livelyhfarms #followinginpapasfootsteps #farm #blogger #agriculture #farmlife #agvocate #dreambig #chasedreams #farmher #kfb #kentuckyfarmbureau GUESS WHAT?
LAST DAY OF PLANTING FULL SEASON HERE AT LIVELY H! WAHOOOOOOOO! Aaron is finishing up the last acres this morning!! Combines are coming out today…not getting in the field..well..depends on papa(he likes keeping things “Lively at Lively H”…so things may change to see where we are at with moisture… But wheat harvest is near for us folks! Reminder lots of machinery moving and will be moving down the road, slow down, be courteous..we want everyone safe! Also reminder don’t be a bumper bumper on the back of equipment, farmers can’t always see behind them, just like you have blind spots in cars! If coming up on a piece of equipment we try our best to let you pass when safe..we know you have places to go just as we do! Just like we don’t like the weather holding us up, we don’t want to hold you up! To all the other farmers, let’s have a safe bountiful wheat harvest! • • • • • #agrowersgranddaughter #livelyhfarms #harvesttime #agriculture #farm365 #kentuckyag #kyfarm #agriculture #farm #farmblog My happy place, you’ll find is anywhere on the farm! There’s no place i’d rather be…
More hay cut, raked and baled today! We will start back at it again in the morning! After cutting....I tended to the flock this afternoon! Moved some lambs around, weaned a few more and brought to home pasture! Put up some cross fencing to rotational graze! Keeping some ewe lambs back to build up flock, but all ram lambs taking off next week! It’s crazy to think, second group of lambing begins soon! Rest of flock, is doing great! Well except Aladdin(the ram) he is a bit full of himself, needs an attitude adjustment…getting very aggressive, can’t turn by back on him.. But I’m gonna fix that..or he will be out alone for a little while and grounded from his ladies and candy (sweet feed).. Anyway heading to bed.. Night followers.. Still a little to wet to get into fields to plant..But so close to being finished…less than 100 acres to plant for full season! We need a good day and both planters running… But since we couldn’t.. Lively H broke out the cutters today! Looks like the end of the week/weekend is full of hay! Now speaking of hay.. I’ll be hitting the hay soon.. Granny said…simple is better… Wait… every feeding will now start…”Commeee Onnnnn Gusss” Sorry to keep you all waiting! Noon, came more like 9:30… Gus, though had a great day! He is a professional at hitting the bottle..In fact he drank 1-1/2 tonight… because I may have had an oops… and spilled 1/2 the first but that’s okay he’s a big boy..which means why not another half.. I told him…he can’t get in too much trouble with the bottle… as long as it’s milk! Anyway… In for the night, lots of moving today, that’s a great sign though! Full season planting is almost complete!! • • • • • #agrowersgranddaughter #adventureswithcatandgus #farming #calving #babycalf #bottlecalf #moohere #cattle #farming #livelyhfarms #sillysunday #49 had a HUGE bull calf today with assistance..

Then on to the next big item on agenda wheat harvest! Changing very quickly.. with these temps and rain missing us…it will begin to dry quickly..I may have stopped by a few of our fields on way home… Look how beautiful.. agriculture really is… this view is the reward of hard work, long hours, blood, sweat and tears and trials…knowing we are providing for you and your family with the help of our soil.. Anyway I won’t get sappy tonight..just so passionate about this way of life… But let’s get back to tonight… Dinner before 10 who are we?
