We will find out just after lunch! Soybean harvest 21 may be under way today at Lively H! Reminder in the upcoming weeks and months, lots of farm equipment will be out on the roads with you! SHARE the road, SLOW down, and SMILE! Most of all enjoy the change of scenery and thank a farmer! Just as the leaves on trees are changing so are the crops! Long hours starting now! Missing family and time with friends and a hot dinner on the table to put food on your table! Sit back and watch the action! Turn on your hazards or flash your lights to warn people of equipment coming ahead, yes we have escorts, but sometimes people still don’t pay attention! SHOCKER right? Wave, don’t be stupid, don’t pass on a curve, don’t be bumper humper, don’t try and see if you can fit under the combine! If you slow down for someone riding a bike or walking down the road and a turtle in the middle of road…you can slow down for a tractor going down the road! In the time your behind them…soak up seeing a little of what it’s like being part of a farm! If your blaming getting behind equipment for you being late for work or kids ball practice then maybe you shouldn’t leave yourself that pressed for time, and normally we all try and pull off if able! Moisture test says it’s GO TIME! This is afternoon I cleared out a spot in the field for trucks with papa! Papa also walked behind just to make sure air was right and very little loss behind! Time to bring out the long sleeves, flannels, leggings, hot tea in the mornings, soups and roasts at night, leaves changing colors and falling, calving, and lambing. …..may have to keep the shorts and short sleeves out because still looking around 80 next week but at least fall gave us a preview today! And most importantly get soybean harvest in full swing! Clear days ahead with sunshine! 👏🏻 We are ready here at Lively H and so are the full season soybeans! Been thinking about new snack ideas for when i’m in the combine….hopefully soon but rain just decided to show up again! So i’m planning instead! Happened to find these bad boys at Walmart.. I tell ya, I love some Reese’s! But this is like awesome, so good… and nothing better than after you but put them in the freezer! I told y’all I would love Reece’s sponsor me lol it’s my #1 go to in combine, and croutons!! Other combines are coming out of shed today! Fueled up, greased up, header on! I ran out this morning to get a couple of samples… to see if we’ve got the green light! Today Papa and Aaron dreamed teamed it! Uncle Johan was busy spraying soybean fields! I cut with the old faithful 9600 and boy does she run like a dream, I think I actually prefer her over the 9650 well minus not having the contour master on head! It helps a lot with ditches! The amish will be by tomorrow to bale the straw! They are baling some of our small fields! I will finish the field I was on tomorrow after work since I filled all the trucks I had today! Harvey and big Aaron trucked until port closed before lunch and we have them all loaded again and ready for them in the morning! This afternoon since I finished what I could! I was able to ride with papa in tractor on his rounds with the grain cart! Heading to shop now, calling it a night! Hope you all have a great weekend! XOXO A Growers Granddaughter |
